#3 We had a very lousy 4 1/2 hour bus trip to and from Novosibirsk. Actually, it could have been worse because it was at least a warm bus. But it was the bounciest trip ever and we are not sure why he drove on the shoulder of the road which WAS NOT smooth, because we were the only ones on the highway for most of the trip. The toilets at the half-way pit stop were most interesting, see attached picture. So, most of our week was taken up with this trip and this was the least favorite part. But, we were able to go to a Russian folk dance / folk and modern singing / concert. It was VERY interesting and LOUD. They have learned how to mike the performance, but not use the volume button. Overall, VERY enjoyable.
#2 We were able to have a very good fireside tonight (Sunday) at our home with 24-25 in attendance. And we all wrote letters at the end to invite the other less actives. We were pretty packed, so I don't know where we will put them all, but, we are actually looking for a bit larger place. We are trying to get organized in the search and rescue effort of these less actives. We have lots of great help from those that are attending.
#1We got to welcome Elder and Sister Huffaker to the mission at a couples conference in Novosibirsk. President and Sister Trejo put on a spiritual feast and we also feasted in royal, homemade cooking fashion. It was all VERY delicious and a huge boost. It was also lots of fun to meet the Huffakers, which are our niece's in-laws, and from Marsha's hometown. Actually sister Huffaker was Marsha's beehive teacher as a young 19 year old leader. It was SO good to visit and laugh together AND learn more of the gospel.
Our love and blessings to you all!
Anxiously Engaged,
Elder & Sister, John & Marsha, Ma & Pa Aland
