May 1, 2011

Hello everyone, another week gone by and we find ourselves still in a May snowstorm in Siberia. It has a nice ring to it doesn't it! The snow didn't last, but nonetheless there was a few last week. I hear the weather is unsettled in Utah as well, and we even had better weather than some of you there. But we do appreciate the sunny days when we have them, and they start early in the morning at 5 and last until 9 at night now. We see light so early and think we have slept in, but sure enough, we haven't slept long enough. Oh well. For the top three picks this week, here goes:

#3- We have seen several of the sheep we thought were lost returning to the fold. That is such a great celebration for us all. Everyone crowds around them and welcomes them back and are truly joyful to see them again. What good shepherds they are. They are vigilant! Each number is one closer to becoming a ward.

#2 Migration trip. One of our elders is from Ukraine, so he doesn't need a visa renewal like we do, but instead, twice a year he has to migrate to Kazakstan. He takes a 9 hour bus ride, then a 5 hour car ride out of Russia to Kazakstan, eat lunch, then come back over a two day time period. Our elder did it about non-stop and when he came back he just started into the work the very minute he got back. Not only is he incredible, but it is amazing what red tape the church has to go through to keep missionaries in Russia. It takes so much office help to keep everyone migrated out and in and the visa trips back and forth each month. If they are not followed to the letter and then re-registered upon coming back into the city it could jeopardize all non Russian missionaries. They are spending a lot of time and money on Russia and I hope we all can make it worth this huge effort.

#1 - STRENGTH from you all: We have appreciated so much all the strength and love given to Ryan & Andrea & Mylee in our absence. Thanks for the prayers, the notes and the faith shown in their behalf. Mylee is gaining in eating, in weight and in strength and we get to check on her and see her on skype. Much of the family has dropped by and given support and hugs. They all give an extra one from us and we know it is a boost. Please, keep her in your prayers. She is in week 2 now and each week is a milestone. We have been at peace here, thanks again for your prayers in OUR behalf also. Col.2:5

Well, that's it for now. . . we are still singing the Siberian Battalion Fight Song. The keyboards that were granted are in constant use and members are starting to play a little in Relief Society and also for the fireside tonight. THANKS for your help in that effort as well!

We love you all so much!! Keep the faith!
