#3 WE GOT A BED! Yes! We've been sleeping on a futon and it was far past TIME to get a real bed. This is not as easy as it may seem. First you have to find a store that actually has a bed to sell, then you have to locate a Russian speaking missionary on Prep Day that has nothing more to do than go with you to the aforementioned store. Then you have to Buy the thing and try to find a way to get it home. They said that they could take it for us, so they did and set it out front of the store. It is very cold. . . we are waiting for the truck to come any second. One does pull in, but they get out and go in the store and never come back. Finally the elder goes to check on it and they MEANT they would take it OUTSIDE for us, not home. So finally the elders just pick it up and carry it 1/2 mile across the streets and down the roads and up 5 flights of stairs. AND what's more they did the same for our fridge today. Gotta love these elders! We fed them hamburgers and french fries for the bed and homemade Subway sandwiches for the fridge. Good Trade!
#2 WE SAW our first puddle!! That means that it is going to melt soon?!? At least we can see out our windows, occasionally, also, because they aren't so frosty. We know that spring is going to come!
#1 Good things are happening. We love having the youth over for firesides, and the elders for district meetings and some of their Prep. day. And, best of all, Elder Aland practiced all day on the 5th of March so he could learn the baptismal prayer in Russian and baptized our friend, Sasha. It was a beautiful evening! We LOVE to be part of this great work.
Love to you all,
Elder & Sister, John & Marsha, Ma & Pa Aland
